We are tremendously excited to offer Gatomboya from the Nyeri region of Kenya. Coffees from this region are known for intense fruit and florals balanced by great body. Look for fresh tropical fruit notes along with delicate florals to add to the complex character.
Gatomboya Factory (washing station) is part of the Barichu Co-operative Society and is comprised of about 600 small holders. Their farms are as small as 0.4 hectares, but collectively they contribute about 350 tons of coffee annually.
The annual average rainfall in the area is 1400 mm and the soil around Mount Kenya is rich volcanic. This volcanic soil is known to have better chemical and physical properties than some other tropical soils. These attributes paired with proper elevation and attention to detail in the picking and sorting processes make for an unforgettable cup.
