Our Director of Coffee Christian has a deep personal connection to coffee from Los Pirineos. Not only do they produce award-winning coffees, but they also have some of the most unique variety farms on the planet. “I first learned the true meaning of "relationship coffee" when I visited the farm back in 2015 and met Diego's father, Gilberto. He treated me with such hospitality and showed me how buying coffee can be more than just a transaction. It can be a functional symbiotic relationship between farmer and roaster.”

Gilberto has since passed away, but his legacy lives on through his son, Diego, who has continued to push both quality and experimentation. The lot of coffee we chose for this release is an Orange Bourbon, which is a natural mutation of the classic "Red" bourbon variety. The exception is that it ripens to a bright orange color instead of the bulls blood red. To us, the orange bourbon also has a slightly more citrusy and stone fruit like profile.

As a natural process coffee, those fruity notes are bumped up to overdrive. In the finished cup, we taste notes of nectarine, white wine acidity, rich jammy and cocoa-like body, finishing with delicate notes of black tea and Greek yogurt.

This coffee is a celebration of the relationship between Los Pirineos and our company. It is a reminder that coffee is more than just a drink. It is a product of the land, the people who grow it, and the people who roast it. We are grateful for the opportunity to share this coffee with you and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
